Whispering Grass - In 1977, cast members Don Estelle ('Lofty') and Windsor Davies (Sgt-Major 'Shut-up') released a novelty record as a 45 rpm Single, a comic version of the evocative 1930s song Whispering Grass . Don Estelle was a professional singer, who possessed a beautiful singing voice. The record unexpectedly became a hit, and rapidly climbed the Pop charts in the UK. Don Estelle and Windsor Davies ended up performing the song as a comic sketch on the BBC's prestigious pop music show, Top of the Pops .
