Saint Athanasius: The Father of Orthodoxy

A short and rather old fashioned biography a great saint. Don't expect subtlety; it's unapologetic hagiography. The saint is presented as a figure of pristine brilliance, courage and integrity and his persecutors as conniving villains. But to those who appreciate what was at stake in the controversy, Athanasius is indeed a God-sent hero. This is an informative, if quaint, introduction to a fascinating figure in history. wow, what a wonderful experience! Eye-opening and inspiring. The book really brings to life ancient times, and shows how points of doctrine gave rise to a true battle between good and evil. The novel simplifies the story, to be sure, but the key facts are well founded in history. The reader is great, too. A bit slow but wonderfully clear.

This was beautifully written, and the narration was great as well. I so much appreciate having had the opportunity to listen to it and recommend it to anybody who loves the truth and Orthodox Christianity!
Well written. well read.

As we talk about living in a post Christian society with all its inconvenience, this picture of life at the dawn of the fist Christin society is a thought provoking read.
