A widow has been murdered in the home of a relative on a foggy night in London town when all residents were off on to the theatre, and one to run an errand involving the title bauble. Who done it? Old dark house mystery full of period cliches is pulp fun for the new year. - Summary by Matt Pierard

In spite of the somewhat hollow sound quality, the reading is very clear and easy to understand. It is a good story.

silly story

Ridiculous plot. Reader is ok, but sounds line he’s recording from the bottom of a barrel.

waste of time

poor writing. no real plot. just occult nonsense

The story with all it's fantasy is worth spending time to hear. The reader who starts in a tunnel does loose that hollow sound and becomes one who does a great job. I use these books to keep me company while I crochet scarves. Again much thanks to the creators of this group, for saving so many of the old books and giving them life with the people who share their great talent. God bless.

WEII-CONJURED STORY

Hume tries his hand at an occult tale and succeeds admirably. He resists the temptation to delve too deeply into the dangerous and evil side of the supernatural, presenting the reader with what is basically an adult fairytale. Well read, even if the recording was a bit tinny.

Another book that sounds like it is being read in a tunnel. Reader is great but sound is not.

Not a mystery

(2.5 Sterne)

More a poor horror story than a mystery. The reader does a good job.
